Folding@home is a project that joins the computing power of many computers into a super computer aimed at medical research.

Well, the hope is that it will help find cures for diseases like cancer, ALS, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and many others.

Sign up. Download the file. Essentially it is a software program that runs in the background of your computer.

Worth mentioning…

Curecoin is in the Folding@home ecosystem. It’s a cryptocurrency - similar to Bitcoin.

The difference as I understand it is the computer power usage to generate Bitcoins is largely wasted. Whereas Curecoin uses that computing power to help further medical research.

My vision in the cryptocurrency landscape is not clear so I don’t want to make any recommendations. That said, they might be on to something.
